GOOD BURGER is the story of two goofy friends, Dexter (Thompson) and Ed (Mitchell), while they spend their summer working at a local burger joint for some extra cash. Grew up on Kenan & Kel and to this date I can watch this movie and get a good laugh! It's def. worth it! I miss these guys - Nick isn't the same! |

Crazy, messy fun for the whole family!!!! |
Being a person who loves both kid and family films, I purchased this movie from Suncoast Video in Livingston Mall. After having left the mall, however, I did have my initial misgivings. Would it live up to the "Good Burger" sketches that were regularly performed on Nickelodeon's tween version of "In Living Color"?
I'm happy--deliriously happy, I might add--to say that this movie did not disappoint. I even showed it to my niece the next time she was over our house for a visit, and she and I laughed throughout the whole movie. Kids' movies aren't like this anymore; if anything, the kids are smart-mouthed, irreverent, and disrespectful. And they even managed to include a little moral: that wealth and power aren't the things that will sustain. Ultimately, doing a good job and selling a good product ("good burger") and keeping your customers happy will prove itself in the end. |

Good Burger is one of those films that a child would love. It has that crude child-hood humor. Sure showering with clothes on singing "We're all dudes" and being inside a milkshake machine. What's more to love right? Wrong! The plot was decent enough but the acting was just drop dead horrible. Kel played an awful performance as Ed. He has that unintellegent characteristic of where he takes anything literally and does not even understand the basics of figurative language. "Can you get that through your head?" Dexter (Kenan) asks. "I could try." Then he shoves french fries into his head to see if he can. Then he puts grapes in his nose to cheer Dexter up. Another example, "I don't know how to say this" "Oh, you just go thiiiiiiiiiiissssssssssss." I mean wake up Nickelodean and Paramount! You could've at least made the acting better and it would've been a quite decent movie. When Dexter takes the job at Good Burger he acts like he only wants to work there just to pay off the accident he created and not even enjoying working there. He asked for a raise and Mr. Baily shouts out "No!!!" Overall, bad acting, story plot was okay, could've been more entertaining and acting needed serious work. |
